Keloids form due to an over-production of scar tissue.  Your body produces connective tissue cells at the site of a wound.  If these gristle-like fibers continue to multiply even after a wound is filled in, a keloid will form.

If a keloid is surgically removed, it will reform, but there are other means of reducing keloids that do produce good results.  Patients from Franklin Square, Valley Stream, West Hempstead, Malverne, Lynbrook, Elmont, and Garden City come to the Franklin Square location of Kushner Dermatology for keloid treatments. Our Farmingdale Village location serves Farmingdale, Bethpage, Massapequa, Amityville, Melville, Dix Hills & other surrounding towns. If you have a keloid, contact our office today to schedule an examination and to discuss treatment options. Call (516) 328-6252.
